The Guardian Weekly

You can read The Guardian (British newspaper) online, but I seldom do. During the week I’m lucky if I keep up with the blogs I follow via Google Reader, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and, of course, email. But weekends are different. I make sure I have some time away from the computer — and thinking about something other than writing.

The Guardian Weekly is my solution. It includes articles from The Observer, The Washington Post and Le Monde, as well as from The Guardian, obviously. Plus some new material. It is blissful to hand over to its editors the decision on what I’ll be interested to read. It’s also a small way in which I can monetarily support quality journalism.

But I’ll confess it’s not a complete break from my writing obsession. I never know what news item might trigger a story idea.

  1. ………..

My spouse and i suppose for the time being i’ll settle for book-marking along with incorporating your RSS feed to be able to our Yahoo account. I enjoy new revisions and will talk about this specific website using my own Facebook class….

  2. You know, this might just be the solution for me. A way to stay informed which isn't too overwhelming to contemplate.

Thanks for the suggestion – and glad I'm not the only one who struggles with this!

    • It's a difficult balance, isn't it? Peeping out at the wider world, but protecting our writing time and energy. It took me a while to realise the value of a magazine. My sister sticks with "Time". I used to read "The Economist" but it got more and more expensive, and I prefer "The Guardian's" leftish slant.
