Margery Allingham is one of my favourite authors. She wrote Golden Age mysteries with her own unique and glorious style. Albert Campion was her enduring hero, but Superintendent Luke is mine — if you haven’t read Tiger in the Smoke, read it! Her style evolves through the years, but the trademark elegance never falters. She considered writing a profession — and that makes her one of my writer heroes.
