Swan River Colony, Australia, 1895
All suffragette Esme Smith wants is respect. Her beau, American inventor Jed Reeve, may be more enlightened than most men, but lately his need to protect her is at odds with her need for independence. Esme begins to wonder if a modern woman can share her life with a man without losing some of herself.
With his courtship of Esme stalled, the last thing Jed needs is the pressure of saving the Prince of Wales. But when blueprints for a sonic destroyer fall into his hands, he uncovers an anarchist plot that could have deadly consequences.
While investigating the threats, Jed is determined to keep Esme out of harm’s way, despite her protests. But when the terrorists capture Jed and demand a priceless emerald in exchange for his life, it’s Esme who must draw on all her strength to save the day.

Hey I'm in Australia too. Are you going to RT2013?
Hi Megan ๐
The conference in Kansas? It's a bit far for me. I'm a hopeless traveller. But I will be going to the RWAustralia conf here in Western Australia. Fremantle is actually my setting for "Courting Trouble" so I'm kinda thrilled my first romance conf will also be there. Are you going to it? I'm already starting a mental list of people I HAVE to meet ๐
And if you are going to Kansas, are you going as part of a group? I'm curious if that makes things easier.
Gorgeous cover and great concept – <3 steampunk and Australia is a dream setting! ๐ Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy! hosannahighest (at) hotmail (dot) com

Pauline, I'm so happy to see you here! I've yet to hop around the Mistletoe Madness, but I'll get there yet!
And I agree. Australia and steampunk go together like a cuppa tea and a TimTam — or 2! ๐
Merry Christmas, to you, too, Kelly! ๐
Sonic Destroyer! Love it. And the fact it is set in Australia…even better.
Merry xmas!!!

What little steampunk I've read has been fascinating. It has such a buzz about it. I'm thinking strongly of setting a steampunk novel in India. I think that country was made for steampunk. I live there BTW.
So do I! I think India would be a great setting. I'd really love to read something that uses the railways, but what are your plans?
In my Bustlepunk Chronicles, I couldn't resist adding a Bombaytown to Perth, Western Australia. It never existed, but it should have! In its earliest days, the British settlement in Perth exported horses and sandalwood to India, and the sandalwood industry is going strong. So much so that there have even been sandalwood smugglers!
