Dreaming of Unicorns

CONTEST CLOSED!! Winner is KateS who’d love to meet Pegasus! I wish I could arrange it for you 🙂 I’m sending you an email to arrange the giftcard delivery.

Thank you to everyone who entered the contest. I wish we could all meet our favourite mythological creatures. I really enjoyed reading your varied responses – dragons, unicorns and all the rest.

To celebrate the release of my latest paranormal romance, Fantastical Island (99c for a short time, FREE in Kindle Unlimited), I’m offering a $100 Amazon (.com) giftcard for one lucky winner. For your chance to win, simply comment on this post with the name of the mythological creature you’d like to meet. It can be something sexy like a werewolf (well, I think they’re sexy) or unique like a baku (there’s a baku in Fantastical Island). Have fun!

Random.org will be used to select a winner. The contest runs February 21-28, 2017. Good luck!

fantastical island, jenny schwartz, kindle unlimited, paranormal romance,

Someone is hunting the fantastical creatures of Catalina Island.

When a magical amulet gives marine biologist Naomi Twain the power to see through glamours it plunges her into a world of danger and intrigue. Fantastical creatures are everywhere, but hidden, on Catalina Island—and someone is hunting them, putting at risk a unique, magical ecosystem.

Corey Madrigal is bathing a behemi, a flying miniature pig, when Naomi crashes into his life. With a natural talent for seeing through glamours, he feels a responsibility to the creatures of his island home, creatures who were the friends of his childhood. Now, he’s a Hollywood special effects artist, and he’s going to be an amazing ally for Naomi in her quest to capture the hunters of the island’s fantastical creatures.

But the hunters have their own agenda.

And then, there’s the ghost…

Intense danger, wild storms, and passionate loyalties put to the test. Fantastical Island is a stand-alone adventure in the Old School series.

Fantastical Island is 99c for a short time, or FREE to read in Kindle Unlimited. Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Fantastical-Island-Old-School-Book-ebook/dp/B01N56RZ7Z/

Good luck in the contest! I’m genuinely curious which fantastical creatures people want to meet.

  2. I think it would be a shorter to list the creatures I would NOT want to meet. But in order of the ones I’d like to meet?
    1. Erinyes
    2. Moirai
    3. Shapeshifter (dragon or wolf)
    4. Phoenix
    5. Pegasus
    6. Kelpie

Gosh I could go on and on….

  3. Vampire that flies. He would fly me around the world, so I can see everything I have not seen. He would make love me and give me multiple orgasms.

  4. Oh well, the problem here is that I’m not so sure they are mythical! 😉
Can I please have some unicorns to raise? That would be fun indeed!
I love several of the other “mythical” creatures as well.

    Thank you for the drawing!
    Carol 🙂

  5. Your book sounds so interesting I had to put in my TBR pile. I would love to meet a water dragon, someone who could show me all the amazing things in the ocean

  6. I would want to meet a (nice) dragon that wouldnt eat me. Any size I would want. One to sit on my shoulder and throw fireballs at ppl. Or even a big one that could fly me anywhere in the world.

  7. I love them all! Well just about all of them, it’s so hard to choose, but Succubus, Griffins, Phoenix, Vampires, Djinn, Witches, Demons, Angels, the list goes on & on , but the four that come to mind the most are:
The nasty, nice, sadistic, loving, psychotic, friendly, bat shit crazy & oh so sexual Fae!
    The beautifully stunning magestic Unicorn.
the protective unfortunately ugly, short in stature gargoyle,
and last, but not least is the beautiful (friendly to me), shinny hoarding, fire breathing Dragon!
Each are unique & magical & take us off into a world that not only captures our heads, but our & hearts as well!

  8. I read a book recently and there was a scene that had a winged wolf in it, I hadn’t heard of them before so I googled and there’s not that much info on it but they can fly and have the ability to speak and a few magical powers so that would be kinda of a cool animal to meet.

  9. I would love to see a unicorn/Pegasus. I love horses so any mythological creature that is similar I would always love to meet.

  10. a phoenix or griffin or dragon because they all kinda come from the same legend just a different name at different times

  11. I would love to meet a dragon! Or if you want a little more realistic I love another commenters comment…. A Man who CLEANS!

  12. I think that werewolves are sexy too…I love my men hairy…lol…but they are also deadly!!! I can’t wait to check out this book…Fantastical Island!!! It sounds really great! You are a good writer…and I look forward to more good books from you too!!! Thanks so much for the opportunity to win…it would be a blessing for me!!! Good Luck and God Bless Everyone!!!

  13. i would love to meet either a leprechaun with a pot of gold “at the end of the rainbow” or a man mermaid that can only be someone you can dream about!!

  14. I want to meet a hippogriff because they are not just from Harry Potter, but they look fun to ride and to have as a pet if they existed.

  15. My absolute favorite fantasy series is The Dragonriders of Pern. The interaction between dragon and riders always inspired me, so I’d love to meet a dragon! ??

  16. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway ?
I would be a mythical, magical Unicorn.they are so beautiful and majestic and live in such a beautiful place ? they are good and loving?

  17. Hmmmm…..who to chose, so many. I have two that I at the top of my list: dragon and werewolf.
    Thank you for the opportunity!

  18. I would like to meet any shifter, but I would like to be a wolf shifter or a witch. At times I wish I had some flying monkeys…

  19. A centaurs, a mermaid/merman, anyone with human attributes. I’m curious, I got questions, requests and suggestions.
    Thanks for the chance!

  20. I’d love to meet a hippocampus! While more people go towards humanoids, it would be so cool to see a real “sea horse.”

  21. I must say, I would be interested in meeting a witch, Bewitched-style. I think it would be cool to have powers like that.

  22. Dragons. I’ve always wanted to meet a dragon. My first memory of a dragon is from the original Disney Pete’s Dragon movie, then JRRT’s Smaug and Anne McCaffrey’s dragons and dragon riders. It’s been a lifelong love affair.

  23. I would love to meet a leprechaun, not for their gold but for their magic, that usually lows them to keep their gold.

  24. I love the shifters! I would like to meet a dragon shifter…tall, built and exceedingly handsome….if none are available, I want a werebear, same qualities!

  25. I have always loved unicorns. Actually, my Facebook cover page is a picture of unicorns right now. I have always thought they are mystical and graceful. I have adored them for over 40 years now!

  26. I think a vampire would be what I would love to meet. Especially where they have powers. Imagine the history that they lived through. Thanks for the chance.

  27. God its so hard to choose I guess my number one would be a werecat but it has to be an attractive man with bedroom green eyes who will kidnap me and take me to his lair (sigh) and have his way with me.

  28. That’s a hard choice to make.
I would have to say either a Dragon or a Unicorn.
    Thank you for this Giveaway

  29. The different members of the unseelie fae court have always intrigued me. As well as vampires and all the different sea creatures because…sea creatures….

  30. “Puff the Magic Dragon” was a favorite song when I was a child so I’ve always been partial to dragons. I wouldn’t mind a phoenix or a gryphon either.

  31. My first thought was a dragon– so maybe a dragon shifter?! That would be cool!
Congratulations on your new book!! 😀

  32. I’m pretty sure the pixies are going to hate me for my next 20 lifetimes, so I’d better not come face to face with one anytime soon (I spent too many years kicking over their houses before I knew better, now they keep messing with my stuff 😛 ). I would love to meet a shifter, although I don’t know about a dragon shifter, because I’d probably get fried to a crisp before I had a chance to say hi. 😛 Then again, considering what any of the others would be capable of doing to me, maybe I’d be better off getting fried to a crisp. 😛

  33. I would like to meet The Loch Ness Monster so I can ask him (or her?) where the heck has he been hiding and what does he eat. (apparently there are very few fish in that water).

  34. I would like to meet a gargoyle–so many stories involving them have them fighting evil and I would like to know their motivation!

  35. For me, I would most like to meet a dragon. After that it would be any type of shifter. But I think most supernatural creature would be great, as long as they were friendly.

  36. I’ve Always dreamed of meeting a unicorn ? they represented a world full of magical moments and creatures along with a beautiful place full of sunshine and flowers with a waterfall! T

  37. I’m a horse person so it would have to be a centaur or Pegasus. Thank you for the chance at this awesome giveaway.

  38. I would choose to see (barring death and catastrophe) Anubis, Athena, The Wild Hunt, shifters, or Gargoyles or the Sphinx.

  39. Congrats on the book I had to google a batu! We vacationed in Athens last summer and saw the Parthenon carvings which were largely centaurs…. I’ve been on a Centaur kick since then so that’s my pick!

  40. I’d like to meet the genie in the bottle so I can get a bunch of wishes and karma to those who stole from me and get some revenge and more wishes!

  41. I have always been fascinated by shifters. Wolves, dragons, bears, pretty much anything. I’m an equal opportunity fan girl when it comes to shifters ?

  42. I’d love to meet a cleaning fairy but she’d probably take one look at my house & fly screaming for the hills so maybe I should just pick a dragon, because at least he’d be happy to guard all my sparkly treasures (bits & pieces of broken sparkly costume jewelry meant for repurposing at some point).

  43. I would love to meet a dragon – or a faerie. Both are super awesome. But so are werewolves… I could go on. Thanks so much for the opportunity and congrats on the release of your book!

  44. I would love to meet a feline shifter……I am a hardcore lover of cats….tyvm for the giveaway opportunity

  45. I would like to meet Smaug (the Tolkien’s dragon). But, I would like to meet him, and not have him torture, and kill me. He is very intelligent, and witty.

  46. I’m loving everyone’s responses! Thank you 🙂 My internet connection has gone S…L…O…W… (bad timing with release day and all) so I can’t respond individually, but your comments are making me smile!

  47. I would love to meet a Unicorn. They are such big, beautiful creatures with this amazing wingspan that opens up & shows you all of life’s wonderful possibilities!

  48. I would love to meet a dragon. They fascinate me that they can fly. Thanks for having but contest and congratulations on your new book.

  49. A griffin. The griffin, griffon, or gryphon (Greek: ??????, grýph?n, or ??????, grýp?n, early form ????, grýps; Latin: gryphus) is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle’s talons as its front feet. But its a hard choice between a dragon a pheonix or a gryphon. 🙂

    But I’ll say a Gryphon 🙂

  50. For me it would be Pegasus from Greek Mythology. Imagine riding and then flying. It would be an amazing experience! 🙂

  51. I absolutely love dragons. They are a combination of friend, mount and flame (or ice) throwing weapon. What’s not to love.?

  52. I would love to meet a mermaid. I think I was one in a previous life. I just
love all things that have to do with water.

  53. I’d love to meet a friendly dragon. Must add the friendly part as I do not wish to end up as dinner when I finally meet one!!

  54. I would love to meet so many, but i think a dragon would have to be at the top of my list either a full blooded dragon or a dragon shifter, I don’t mind which.

  55. I would love to meet a shifter…a were bear or werewolf…be fun to pick their brain…yeah, focus on their brain yeah yeah, that’s it.

  56. I would love to meet a brownie. And then entice him to live in my house where in exchange for his cleaning and cooking skills I would provide him with honey and milk and his own room if he wanted as long as he..cleaned and perhaps folded the laundry mountain in my laundry room.

  57. there are several that i would be, like a Fairy, who has magical abilities. i also love Unicorns and Pegasus because i love horses.

  58. There are a few folklore legends I would like to meet that still have an impact on people today: Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, Chupacabra… I know that none of these would make a sexy tale but it still boggles the mind that people actually believe in them.

  59. It would be a toss up between a shifter (even a unicorn shifter) and a vampire. I’ve been a vamp fan for as long as I can remember.

  60. I’d want to find a baby fire dragon in the dark corner of a castle, protecting him from the darkness ?. And growing it up END.

  61. Just about anything but I’ve always loved dragons and unicorns. From fairy tales to Anne McCaffery’s Dragon Rider sagas, they have always fascinated me

  62. For me, it would have to be a unicorn…something not dangerous but incredible and beautiful beyond words. Maybe a unicorn with Zebra stripes and a silver horn.

  63. I would love to meet a fae faerie, or a dragonlet, or even an unicorn. I am most fascinated by the creatures of a fey world. Yet I crave a ride on a dragonlet’s back and still more, I would love to touch the silky hair of an unicorn and its horn.

I love the mystically magical worlds that authors create and how the creatures deal with the human aspect.

  64. If I could meet a mythical creature i would like to meet a Illiarian (Rhysand! ??), a Vampire, or a Angel.
I absolutely loved Sarah J Maas’ description of Illiarians and Faeries. Rhysand, Azriel, and Cassian sounded amazing. From their wings to their strength to their powers- it would be amazing to meet one.
I have always loved vampires as mythical creatures. One of my favorites was Damon Salvatore. They not only sound sexy, but their strength, speed, and fangs always appealed to me.
Angels is another mythical creature I would like to meet, because their is just something about how they are portrayed by numerous writers(Susan Ee, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Lauren Kate come to mind) that have always appealed to me. And their wimgs, ability to fly, and any strength and powers that they have seem amazing!
    Thanks for the chance!! ??

  65. I’d like to meet Cerberus, the three-headed dog. It would be nice to have three dog heads to pet and cuddle with but only one dog butt to clean up after!

  66. Any mythical creature would be incredible to meet.Phoenix and a dragon would be my top picks Thank you for the chance.

  67. Dragon
    …or Unicorn
    …or Werewolf
    …or Vampire
    …or a Pheonix

Aw hell, I’d just like to meet them all!

  68. Such a hard decision, I think I would have to choose a fairy!! Any magical being would be amazing to meet!!

  69. I am not sure which mythological creature I would like to meet, since all origin stories have them malevolent, and I really do not want to perish. If I could make the caveat, that it is a benevolent being, I’d probably pick Faeries.

  70. This is hard one lol, but I would to see werebear lol, those are some sexy when in human form, just saying, but congrats on the new book release and thank you for the chance

  71. Good Morning! Thanks for this amazing opportunity, I’d love to be able to meet a mermaid! It would be fantastic!

  72. Gee, can I pick two? I’m obsessed with both unicorns and dragons. I guess if I could meet just one, it would have to be a unicorn.

  73. I would love to meet a dragon or a phoenix in person! Maybe even a Kitsune but if they really did exist they are probably disguised as humans so I may already have met one.

  74. I would love to meet a dragon. They are always portrayed as wise creatures and I would love to have a conversation with one.

  75. I am not completely certain that I would like to meet any mythological creature, since they all seem to have a certain disregard for humans, but probably a unicorn would be my choice in many ways.

  76. For me I would love to meet a a mermaid or Poseiden. Another will be a wolf shape shifter.
    Thank you for the opportunity.

  77. I love wolves so a wolf shifter would be on top of my list but it would also be cool to meet up with some dragons, unicorns, leopard shifter, or spirits. Thank you for the giveaway

  78. Any mythical creature would be awesome! I would just love to hear about their world! Love unicorns, dragons… If possible the Posieden!

  79. Honestly, I’d go with either a mermaid or a fairy, just because they’re humanoid creatures I could possibly have a good conversation with (and are also both supposed to be SUPER pretty).

  80. I would love to meet a vampire. I know it sounds cliche but to meet one and to fall in love with one is every girls dream right?! Oh maybe just mine! LOL

  81. I’m town between a kitsune (Japanese fox demon) or a Griffin (it’s an eagle, its a lion, it can fly!!)
    They’re both pretty cool.

  82. It’s been done to death…but a big strapping werebear or wolf…you know with tattoos? And black hair and green eyes?!? Yep if I had to pick..*sigh* lol

  83. I would love to meet a Dragon Shifter. Go for a ride see his hoard become the most precious thing in his hoard.

  84. A mermaid would be the creature of my choice to meet . One who is sad that genetic manipulating has taken the chance away for it to be human.

  85. I’ve always wanted to see a chupacabra or a jackalope. I had my kids convienced that jackalopes were real. 🙂

    • Finally! You would think people would realize that vampires are dangerous. But no, they are leary of dragons, but vampires and werewolves are considered “Sexy” and “hot” and relatively harmless.

  86. Echidna – Half woman half snake, Echidna known as the “Mother of All Monsters” because most of the monsters in Greek mythology were her offspring.

  87. I ust read about a River Dolphin shifter group and that caught my imagination. Especially when the hero said he could take his mate for a ride, and that sounds amazing. To fly through the water!

  88. I’ve always been obsessed with unicorns. I would love to find out they were real. And Pegasus where I could ride and fly!

  89. I would love to see a Phoenix! I pretty much have based a lot of my life on the symbolism behind them, being reborn from bursting into flame. That was actually my first tattoo!

  90. I would really love to meet a Mermaid! Maybe it’s because I am fascinated with them, and would love to be one! Thanks so much for the chance!

    mmalavec(at)med(dot)umich(dot)edu

  91. I would love to meet a mermaid ever since I saw The Little Mermaid I have loved them, or a fairy I love them to. Congratulations on your new book! Thank you for the awesome giveaway.

  92. I have always been fascinated with Unicorns, Dragons, Griffins and Gargoyles….if I had to pick though, I would probably start with a Dragon. I meant hey can breathe fire and fly….what’s not to love.
    Congrats on the release

  93. I’d like to dream up my own mystical creature–a unicorn whale that lives deep in the sea and only emerges when beckoned.

  94. I not sure how mythical this is, but I would love to actually talk to a ghost. I have seen them, but would love to talk to them.

  95. Books with shape-shifting Dragons and Werewolves in the PNR genre are attention grabbers 🙂 Congratulations on another wonderful book release Jenny! 🙂

  96. I would love to meet a unicorn. I’ve loved them all my life and have quite the collection of statues, books, etc! 🙂

  97. I’d love to meet a kitsune, I recently saw a fox behind my home and what a delight it’d have been to discover it was a mystical creature. Somehow I’ve missed this series, time to 1-Click! 😀

    • A dragon would be awesome – but I wouldn’t be dragon rider! When I read those books, like Anne McCaffrey’s I know there’s no way I’d have that courage. Vertigo!

  98. A baku? Interesting. Always learning something new through your posts. Baku kind of resembles a cross between a wolverine, sloth, and an ardvark.

What mystical creature would I most like to meet? I’ve always found faeries completely enchanting. Want them to be absolutely real, yeah!

Congrats on another new release. Best to you.

    • Fairies! Absolutely. I don’t know if Enid Blyton, the English children’s writer, was big in America, but her fairy stories were a huge part of my childhood!

And I would love to meet a baku – so of course, I had to write one 🙂

      Thanks for your congrats, Mary
