A Cover Reveal, Hints re a New Series, & Plans for 2019

First up … drum roll … the cover for Shangri-La Spell, the final book in my Old School paranormal romance series. It will be out in December, fate willing!

I’ve bundled the first three books in the Old School series into one volume, Old School Magic

There’s a touch of sadness to wrapping up a series, but there’s also an element of excitement because when one series ends, a new one begins!

The Faerene Apocalypse will be a huge part of 2019 for me. This dystopian fantasy series launches in January … and I’m withholding all further details till the New Year! It is awesome, enthralling, and a genre blend that allows for wonderful characters and quests.

In 2019 I’ll also have a chance to share further stories from my science fiction world in the Interstellar Sheriff series. Space Rodeo will be out in early 2019. Then I’m debating whether to let loose a known felon in Space Parolee. I’m very tempted, but hot coffee is a dangerous weapon – and no, I’m not explaining that! Wait for the novella 😉

science fiction, jenny schwartz, space deputy, interstellar sheriff,

Finally, I wanted to share an insight about ideas and creativity. Back in 2010 when I got my first publishing contract with Carina Press, I would hear other authors talking about plot bunnies scampering in every direction and I’d be wistful, envious and curious. Plot bunnies are story ideas.

I used to wonder how people could have so many ideas!

Well, nearly a decade later I have my answer. Maybe your answer to that question is different. But for me, ideas come from being curious about things (although I have to limit this or I can procrastinate with research forever), and most importantly, from telling stories.

Basically, the more stories you tell, the more you train your brain to tell stories. And then, it starts seeing possibilities for more stories everywhere.

Like every craft, writing and storytelling improve via practice.

Now, my challenge is not to chase after every plot bunny that pops up; hence, my repeated insistence that in 2019 I will write two series, and only two series!

However, 2020 … I have an idea for a mystery novel that just might finally get its day.
