I’ve been promising paperback editions of my books for years. I’ve finally done it! Well, not for all my series. However, I’m committed to producing paperback editions for my current series, Caldryn Parliament. Stars Die is now available in print and Hexes Fly and Rogues Lie will be by the end of February. As soon as the distribution system kicks itself into gear you’ll also be able to borrow digital editions via your library (if your library approves the request).
If you’re curious about the reason I’m not committing to bringing my full backlist into paperback I outlined the economics of it here, on my Caldryn.com website. (My New Year post outlines my general publishing intentions).
Basically, formating my books for paperback is fiddly and time-consuming at a time when I’m already pushing against deadlines for new books, and new books are where I make the bulk of my income. I keep hoping that free time will magically appear in my schedule, but somehow it always gets eaten up. So, no paperbacks outside of the Caldryn Parliament series, for now.
Since this is a new release newsletter, you seldom hear from me. If you’d like to keep up on what I’m doing, I post weekly on my Facebook page, as well as on Caldryn.com. You can also find me on Bluesky.
Until the next book!
Jenny
P.S. If I can ask a favor, with AI replacing basic search and AI-generated books flooding the market, word-of-mouth is more important than ever for book discoverability. Could you please recommend my books? If you’re on Reddit that would be fantastic (AI loves scraping Reddit for answers), but anywhere and everywhere helps. Publishing is becoming even tougher, and it was never an easy industry. I’ve seen author colleagues bow out. If you want to keep reading new books from your favourite authors, we really need your help. (But I also understand how busy and overwhelmed everyone is, so this is a favor. Please, don’t feel pressured to do anything. I just thought I’d take this chance to ask for help).
