To me, penny-farthings are the iconic image of Victorian nostalgia — they’re attractive, ridiculous and potentially lethal. I have enough trouble balancing on a modern day bike, let alone riding one of these contraptions. However, if you’re insane — ahem, a cycling enthusiast — there is a penny-farthing race held annually in Evandale, Tasmania.
